Problems with Gig ethernet between a 6509 GBIC and a 5500

Are there any issues with Gig ethernet between a 6509 module WS-X6408A-GBIC and a 5500 supervisior 3 module WS-X5530?

We are trying to connect these two switches using fiber and trunk them. Both sides of the trunk are set at nonnegotiate ISL. Both ports are set at 100/full. However when they are connected all that happens is the light on the 6509s port flashes on and off and a bunch of runts errors show up in the logs. ON the 5500 nothing shows up in the logs. The funny thing is when the 5500 is connected to another 5500 it works just fine so it is not the fiber.

The 6509 is running version 6.3(5).

The 5500 is running version 5.5(14).

Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening?

Thanks

If you have both ends set to nonegotiate the trunk will not come up. Try setting the ISL trunk mode to "desirable" on both ends
