Hello i have a 3560 routing for our 6 vlans. I want to create a promiscuous port on the 3560 so i can monitor all traffic.
I used this link
To set up g0/2 for promiscuous, i set my primary vlan as vlan 10 (192.168.10.0/14) and added my other vlans as secondary.
I then plugged my laptop in to g0/2 with a crossover cable and set my ip to 192.168.10.24.
I cant seem to get it to work though, am i setting it up right? i should be able to access all everything right? My light just stays amber and nothing ever happens.

Hello,
try a straight cable, or, if you use auto MDIX, make sure that the speed and duplex is set to auto as well.
Can you post the configuration of your switch ?

One, you are using the worng cable, amber means the interface is most likely down.
Two, you do not use private vlan's promiscuos port to monitor all traffic on some vlan, or all vlans or port or group of ports for that you use SPAN feature.
