Hi
AFAIK if you are enabled with the ip proxy-arp command under your fastethernet interface then the fastethernet will reply with his MAC address for all the queries sent for the routes for which it has the route in its routing table or a default route in the routing table.
I dont see much of problems if its disabled in normal working environments ...

Hi
in addition, if enabled on an GW it would allow gatewayless machine's connect to remote machines;
i.e with proxy-arp enabled on RouterA, PC1 will be able to connect to PC2 without GW configured on PC1.
PC1 ====== Router A ========== Router B ====== PC2
Hope this helps.
Thx
