Does anybody know whether compression is supported on Cisco 7500 routers ( "distributed compression" actually,i.e., compression running on VIP processors ) also running distributed Low Latency Queueing??
This means that interfaces will have to queue packets using LLQ and also packets will be compressed ( I don´t know the order of operation ). These operations should be done at VIP processor level ( CSA adapters are EoS ), but I´m not sure whether this is supported or not.
Compression can either be performed through hardware by a CSA, or through software either by the VIP (distributed compression) or the route processor. Compression is done after dequeueing of packets from the queue. Check out this link :
