QOS on layer 3 6509

Are all classification and marking options on the MSFC 2 (layer 3) of a 6509 for local L3 processing only? I can not get the classification to appear at Layer 2 of the 6509. I have set the default ACL at layer 2 to trust-dscp and if I make QOS ACLs at L2 they are carried through to the output port and beyond.

On a hybrid system, the configurations are done at the supervisor level. The actual qos is done at the PFC.

In hybrid both layer 2 and 3 accept QOS configurations, but only layer 2 configs have any effect. True?

You are correct. MSFC might accept QoS commands since it's an IOS device but it has no effect as we use MLS/CEF in 6500 and not every packet hits the MSFC

The first packet in a new stream should go to layer 3. I do not see that packet marked. Also the class-map defining traffic to be marked was getting hits - as seen by a show command.
