QOS with Cat 4003 and 5505??

I have a Cat 4003 and a Cat 5505 that I must connect PBX lan cards into. The PBXs will mark their voice and control packets with the appropriate TOS/COS/DSCP bits (we set them to mark DSCP values and COS values). I need the 4003 and 5505 to TRUST these values and pass them thru unchanged - and also apply some priority queueing if possible.

Here is a quick break down of the 4003 and 5505:

4003:

- Sup I (WS-X4012) ver. 6.4(6) bootstrap=5.4(1)

- 48-port (WS-X4148-RJ45)

5505:

- SUP III (WS-F5521)

- NFFC (WS-F5521)

- Uplink (WS-5530)

- RSM (WS-X5302) IOS-12.1(19)

- 24-port (WS-X5236)

1. Will the 4003 & 5505 with the above modules trust the TOS bits?

2. What version of CatOS should I upgrade to to get the best QOS results?

3. Does the 4003 & 5505 do AUTO QOS?

Thanks.

Yes it will. You can go as high as latest 8.4(9)GLX as well but 7.6(16) which is GD should be good.

1)In a 4003, the L3 ToS bits of an incoming packet are passed through the L2 switch untouched.

2)For 4003, I would go with latest 7.6(x). For CAT5500, go with latest 6.4(x)

3)No.

Will 7.6(x) work with the Sup I in the 4003?
