Question: Max Loops on Network

Hello,

I would like to know many loops can be manage in a Cisco network. I'm having difficulties sometimes when an electric glitch appends... my network gets

crasy and I was wondering if it's not taking too much time to calculate the spanning-tree loops.

I have a star topology and about 100 nodes with 2 VTP Server on Catalyst 5000 switches.

Thank you

Re: Question: Max Loops on Network

The maximum number of spanning tree instances mainly depends on the IOS/CatOS running on the Catalyst switches. Some support max of 64, some support Per-vlan spanning tree, which is equal to number of Vlans configured. You can check the release notes for the IOS/CatOS you are using.

Hope this makes sense.
