question on bandwith limitation using QOS

I limit to 10 Ko the available bandwith for a host wich Ip adresse is 212.X.X.X , so the maximum bandwith for this host is 10 Ko ; when I try to download a file using ftp from this host ( for example), the maximum speed of the transfert is limited to 2 Ko; I don't understand why I can't reach the maximum bandwith wich have been set to 10 Ko ?

when I remoove the traffic policy, I download at 192 Ko . any idea ? any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Re: question on bandwith limitation using QOS

FTP is a TCP application which has its own inbuilt flow control mechanism using window scheme. Typical behaviour of the flow control mechanism is to resize the window to 1 due to a packet drop. So you would not get the max rate.

now, if you some UDP app without any ack mechanism, you would get the max rate.
