We have 10 6009 access switches dual homed to 2 6009 distribution switches, each 6509 switch has an MSFC and it’s connected to the core through an interwan link (VLAN). Yesterday, 4 access switches were reloaded “cold restart” and both interwan VLANs went don down on the router for about 15 seconds, then everything came back stable after that. Any idea what could have happen there?

6509 (Sup 1A) running version 5.4.4 and it has an MSFC running This site is on the Interwan, so the WAN link is connected to the 6509 physically and routed by the MSFC.

Re: Question..

Without seeing the crash info file, it is hard to say anything. If the switch crashes, then there should be some crash file in sh log to tell the reason. You should contact TAC to find out the reason of crash.. and also post it here. It could be that you run some kind of scan software or some kind of strom that might cause the crash but in any case, sh tech might get some information..

Regarding the software level, they are quite old. Try to upgrade to the stable GD version either 5.5.x or 6.x.x depend on the memory /requirement you have

Hope this helps
