The "No Shutdown" command does not seem to work on my Cisco 1605R with IOS 12.0.4T. Why is this? After I put "no shutdown" on interface ethernet 1. Then showrun, "no shutdown" was not listed anywhere. Does it mean that "no shutdown" does not work on this router????

'show int e 1' will tell you if the command works. If it didn't then you would see admin down state as when you have the interface shutdown. Default commands do not appear in the running configuration. An interface default state is considered enabled, so only the 'shutdown' cmd will appear in your config.

Most interesting, as I have seen "no shutdown" appears on the Cisco 2600series before. When put "no shutdown" in and showrun on the 2600series. It will show no shutdown.
