The "No Shutdown" command does not seem to work on my Cisco 1605R with IOS 12.0.4T. Why is this? After I put "no shutdown" on interface ethernet 1. Then showrun, "no shutdown" was not listed anywhere. Does it mean that "no shutdown" does not work on this router????

"no shutdown" won't show up in the configuration on any router, as it's the default. If you enter "shutdown", you'll see it in the configuration, and then if you enter "no shutdown", you won't see "shutdown" anymore.

"No Shutdown" does appear in the Cisco 2600 series. I have seen it before on this router 2600.

Not to be a wisenheimer but did your interface come out of the administratively down/down state after you issued the "no shut" command ? If your answer is yes, the command works. I haven't been on a 2600 lately but I can tell you that I can't remember seeing the "no shut" command appear in any of my configs on other platforms.
