Re: "No space remaining to save config" in cat3550 ?

Hi,

The solution is to use the boot buffersize size configuration command in order to increase the size of the simulated NVRAM. The configuration file cannot be larger than the buffer size allocation. The range is from 4096 to 524,288 bytes.

The boot buffersize command simulates a larger NVRAM.

Re: "No space remaining to save config" in cat3550 ?

Dear VJ

I had one confusion

is it like if i issue

router# copy running-config flash:newconfig.cfg

Destination filename [newconfig.cfg]?

31585 bytes copied in 3.552 secs (10528 bytes/sec)

router(config)# boot config-file flash:newconfig.cfg

commands then i don't need to configure

boot buffersize size

or both are necessary

kindly advise

Regards!!

Hello,

Both methods are not required. Saving to flash is a "work around" and modifying the buffer size is the solution.

If the switch can be reloaded I would say modify the buffer size and be done with it. If you need to wait, say for a maintenance window, to reload then saving the configuration to flash buys you the time you needed for the reload.

You can also use the 'Service Compress-Config' command.
