radius server

What software needs to be running on a server that will be designated as the "Radius Server". Is it software that can be purchased from Cisco, or is it from a 3rd party? I'v delt with Tacacs using Cisco Secure running on an NT PDC and/or BDC and authenticating agains the user database. Is it the same software only configured to be a Radius server instead of a Tacacs server? Can the Radius authentication be done locally on the NAS?

Re: radius server

You need Radius Server software; there

are commercially available versions,

or some free packages. Cisco's package

is CiscoSecure (TACACs or RADIUS).

The RADIUS (or TACACS) authentication

cannot be done on the NAS; local NAS

authentication would not use either

protocol.
