RAS Componets Needed ???

Hi, I have a scenerio whereby the HQ needs to have a (or few) RAS server that to cater for the remote dial in from more than 100 remote sites.

The remote clients some are using ISDN and some are using analog lines.

Please suggest the Cisco Products that can fulfil the following conditions;

(1) Access Server (AS) must be able to assign an IP address to the dial in client.

(2) (AS) must be able to provide "Network Access Restriction" (or filtering) based on the authenticated "UserID" and NOT based on the client IP address.

***NOTE*** For the above, can Cisco ACS meet the requirements ?

(3) AS must be able to provide the callback features to remote clients.

(4) All remote clients can simply use the Windows dial up networking adapter to directly dial to the HQ AS without using third party software.

In term of physical connection, how is the AS connected to ACS ?

Please help out.

Re: RAS Componets Needed ???

Hi ,

Q 1:

You didn't mention the expected Dial-in user base. However assuming you design for medium scale dial-in scenario, 3600/3700 series router would do with MICA modem module installed. Oherwise you may need AS5x00 access servers to address large scale Dail-access.

Yes you can do callback,ISDN and Analog dial-access.

You need peruser configuration at RADIUS/TACACS authentication server to address your need.

In your LAN at any location, others need to be configured to refer your authentication server for authentication.

Hope this helps
