It is part of CAR (committed Access rate) configuration.

We recommend using MQC now,

check this URLs

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/105/cbpcar.html

Using CAR During DOS Attacks

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/63/car_rate_limit_icmp.html

My access to your URLs was denied because they need CCO, but I have not !

Does such tem be the same meaning and usage in Cat2900XL and Cat4006-L3 configs ?

Regards !

Try these

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/105/cbpcar.html

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/car_rate_limit_icmp.html

There is no rate-limit feature on cat2900XL.

Rate-limit on 2948g-l3/WS-x4232-l3/4908g-l3 is sub-set of CAR.

For more information on rate-limit on the L3 switches above, check out this URL

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/125.html#Q8

Hope this helps
