RBE Bridging for DSL

Hello All,

Anyone have suggestions for references, any documentation, for performance comparisons between using RBE bridging for DSL or IRB bridging?

Thanks! Blm

Re: RBE Bridging for DSL

Hi,

I don't think we have such a document with specific numbers in terms of packets switched.

However, there is an RBE whitepaper stating the advantages of RBE over IRB and why the performance is going to be always better with RBE.

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/794/routed_bridged_encap.html#rbe

Hope you find it interesting.

Your local Cisco Sales representative might have such tables. You should ckeck with them.

Re: RBE Bridging for DSL

One of my customers was using IRB on a 7200 and was getting massive CPU spikes of 'HyBridge Input' with only about 150 users. Perhaps one of them was doing some type of attack. Who knows? We're switching to RBE.

My understanding is that RBE and PPPoE are roughly equivalent in terms of the number of sessions. The 7206 NPE-400 is rated at 8000 sessions.
