Cat 6509

I just recently started to configure the 6509 and wanted to know if I routing is eabled by default. Also, I would like to enable vtp, spanning-tree and switchportt access. i am in the process of cutting over from a CATos 4k and 5k whcih is configured using a flat vlan configuration. Also, I this unit was pre configured by an other engineer which is no longer here. I would like to assing a management ip to the system/vlan interface which is normally on vlan10 which is now configured on vlan 1000

>> If you are running Native YES, if you are running Hybrid, obviously the MSFC will be the layer3 and it too will be haivng ip routing enbaled by default.

>> Flat vlan to me sounds like all the ports belong to the same vlan, if it was left alone then all will be in vlan 1.

Thanks for the reply! This is running native IOS. I was unable to configure SC0 and SC1 due to the fact these interfaces were not available. Now that i would like to statically assign these ports to a vlan how can I enable swithport access and spanning tree. i wwill o thorugh the cco site to find this info.

can I enable swithport access

A: create vlan either by config t

vlan x

or vlan database

vlan x

then interface blah x/x

switchport

switch access vlan x
