Receiving the same multicast group and port traffic on one host, two apps

I have a multicast stream 239.255.0.1 port 7701.

Can an NT PC or Unix host running TCP/IP start two different applications or the same application twice on the host and receive the stream on both applications?

I assume not, as the local hosts UDP port number refers to one application? Am I correct or speaking complete rubbish?

Re: Receiving the same multicast group and port traffic on one h

Ken,

In theory now a UDP/TCP app is tied to a port numbers, however if you say running various Virtual Machine and Adapters it is possible.

The local server tracks via src ip and src port and dst ip and dst port. So if i have two say telnet sessions open then they will have the same dst ip and src tcp port number and the same src ip but a different src tcp port no.

Regards
