hi,

are there any recommendations about the size for the banner motd?

In the past we had some trouble with too big banner motd text (more than 30 lines). we were unable to connect to the switch via telnet. We had no problems with the banner motd when we connected via console port.

thank you

frank

Maximum of 3070 characters are allowed in the banner motd command. Here is a document for more info:

There was a limit of 255 characters in earlier versions of RME but this limitation has been addressed in RME 3.5 by adding support for multi-line commands.

This is the example from the online help on Ciscoworks:

Handling Multi-line Commands

You can enter multi-line commands as a part of User-defined and Adhoc templates. The multi-line commands must be within the tag and .

These tags are case-sensitive and you must enter them only in uppercase. You cannot start this tag with a space.

Example banner login "Welcome to CiscoWorks Resource Manager Essentials

- you are using Multi-line commands" You can have a blank line within a multi-line command.

The commands within the MLTCMD tags are considered as a single command and will be downloaded as a single command onto the device.
