After a password recovery as it is described on Cisco website, on Cisco 1700, I always have " sistem configuration dialog" after I relood or start the router.

Hi
as you know when the configregister of the router is set to 2142
(or something else depending on the chasis)your router will
be booted without the system startup config
the main point is when you change the password of the router
and you save the new config ,
since the router has no config at that time except your new config
your start up config will be replaced by the new config that you
have created, hence you when the router is booted you should
enter the system config dialog box inorder to set the minimal config
of the router
and in addition to prevent this event allways copy the start up config into
running config and then change the password of the router
Best Regards
