Hi,

Follow this link and click on the section "Installing the Router Software Using the Console or Auxiliary Port"

http://cisco.google.com/cisco?client=cisco&q=cache%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ecisco%2Ecom%2Funivercd%2Fcc%2Ftd%2Fdoc%2Fproduct%2Fsoftware%2Fios112%2Ffp112rn%2F36_112_7%2Ehtm+3620+disaster+recovery

Scroll down a fraction and take a look at the xmodem description:

The following example shows how to use the xmodem [-cyrx] [filename] command on a Cisco 3600 series router:

rommon 1 > xmodem -c c3620-i-mz.0918..............

Hi,

If you have boot image in any of the slots or bootflash try booting with that image first. Then

delete. if you don't have boot image then follow the steps from link http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_mod/cis3600/hw_inst/3600hig/3600appb.htm#38501

thanks guys, but i have already tried using xmodem. it appeared to have worked. but the next day after the router had been put off. it returned back to its former status with the image of the 3640 still there. the problem i have is that the xmodem down load does not appear to erase the current image. any idea's?

Didn't you first erase the existing image ?

First boot it and delete the existing image and then download the new one.

delete the file & permanently remove from the device by squeezing
