Recovering an 1811W - crash on boot

A colleague has given me an 1811W that he has managed to completely pooch. He tells me that all he did was cut and paste the configuration from another 1811W.

I've tried booting with the confreg set to 0x2142, but that didn't change anything. I'm open to any suggestions.

Cheers,

Kyle

Re: Recovering an 1811W - crash on boot

Kyle,

SegV exceptions are always software problems. Since the problem. Since the router looks like it's going round a reboot loop, I would suggest loading a basic IP image over again.

This is the way I would go forward. The other thing you could do is open a TAC case, they may be able to decode the traceback and identify a bug or some other issue.

hth,

Ajaz Nawaz

Apologies I forgot to mention using tftpdnld or xmodem to load a replacement IOS.
