Redial 1st ISDN no. few time before jumping to 2nd ISDN no.

We have two routers with ISDN PR1 to receive the ISDN call. The remote router tries to dial to the 1st ISDN router and retry 5 times. This is to make sure all the ISDN channels connect to the 1st ISDN router.

If all the attempts to the 1st ISDN router fail, the remote router dials to the 2nd ISDN router.

Before IOS12.2(4)T, the above can be achieved by using 2 dialer strings and dialer redial cmd in the same dialer profile. Then, the router will redial the 1st string few times before using the 2nd string.

However, the dialer redial cmd is modified in IOS12.2(4)T. The dialer will cycle through all the dialer strings.

The ISDN IDD calls sometimes fail. This makes some of the channels connect to the 1st ISDN router and some connects to the 2nd ISDN router, and create problem for us. Do you have any idea in making the router redial the 1st router few times before using the 2nd router. Thanks.

I think you have to revert to the older version of Cisco IOS , If the latest IOS ver 12.2.(4) T doesn't have the feature.

Re: Redial 1st ISDN no. few time before jumping to 2nd ISDN no.

I dont think there is any other way to do it. cisco has only dialer re-dial command for this purpose.

but when many customers are able to dialin to that PRI why not this location ? is this a problem in layer 1 or LCP or NCP ?

Cheers
