Redistribute static/connected into BGP/OSPF

I heard of the way in which some large ISP construct their own network IDC. they advertise to redistribute customers' route (static or connected routes) into IBGP instead of into OSPF while OSPF is used to route backbone devices.

I consider that as long as redistributing into bgp, customers's routing damping will do cause the whole BGP domain's instability although there've multiple path between IBGP neighbor.

Someone told me that IBGP could deal customers's route with more memory than OSPF do.

I am still in dark about arithmetic of OSPF BGP, who would give me some advice?

Sorry for a mistake "Someone told me that IBGP could deal customers's route with more memory than OSPF do".

It should be "Someone told me that IBGP could deal customers's route with fewer memory than OSPF do".
