2004 Apr 15 20:31:28 %SYS-5-REDUNDANTCLOCK_FAIL: Redundant clock failed

2004 Apr 15 20:31:29 %SYS-5-REDUNDANTCLOCK_FAIL: Redundant clock failed

2004 Apr 15 20:31:31 %SYS-5-REDUNDANTCLOCK_OK: Redundant clock recovered

Anyone seen these errors on 6509, catos 6.4.3. The errors are occuring continuously. Any suggestions.

Thanks,

Re: Redundant Clock Errors

Looks like one of your clock modules is getting flakey.

Do a sh environment status. find out which clock module is not-in-use and reseat it.

If that doesn't clear it, I would call TAC.

Make sure you pull the right clock module. if both clocks go down the switch will crash.

Re: Redundant Clock Errors

sorry, just realized you're on catos. The above command is for ios.

I think the catos command is just "show environment"

You should see something indicating which clock is active and any that have failed.

Re: Redundant Clock Errors

I found some information on this error, that says this is a clock module failure and the clock module should be replaced. The clock module resides on the chassis.

Re: Redundant Clock Errors

Yes, the 6509 has dual clock modules. A & B.

if the switch is indicating a failure then you should replace it. I would still try re-seating it before swapping it out. It may just be hosed.
