Redundant Supervisors

We have a cat 6513 with 2 supervisor .

Each supervisor has got 2 Uplink port .

The switch has been connected to two backbone switches with the two ports of the active supervisor.

What I have doubts about is how to best implement a fault tolerance configuration.

Do we need to connect the standby supervisor's ports to two additional port of uplink switches ?

Do we need to trunk that ports ?

thanks

Re: Redundant Supervisors

Hi,

you could do one of the following to implement higher availability

1. use one port on the active supervisor to one backbone switch and a port on the backup to the other backbone switch (hint: even if the supervisor is in backup, the ports are always active).

2. connect one pair of ports (1/1 and 2/1) to one backbone switch as an Etherchannel and the second pair (1/2 and 2/2) as an Etherchannel to the other backbone switch.
