Is it possible to connect Catalyst 2950G 24 EI Switch with Catalyst 2950G 48 EI Switch with GIGABIT ETHERNET ports for BULK DATA TRANSFER. If yes then through what MEDIA (cable) can we connect them both with ?? And Is there any Specific Configuartion for that ?
This is certainly possible. You can use the gigabit uplink ports, which are fiber based. Depending on how far away the switches are from each other will determine what type of fiber to use.
Assuming it's not more than a couple of hundred meters, you would just need WS-G5484 GBICs and multimode fiber between the two.
As far as configuration goes, if the link will carry multiple vlans, you'll need to configure it as a trunk. If it will carry a single VLAN, then configure it as an access port. For more info on how to configure the ports, see the following document:
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
