Hi,
I am a student and am currently been given a task of designing a Network. I have designed this network but I am in a search of a couple of Cisco Layer 3 Switches. One comprising of 24 ports and one with 48 Ports. It would be great if anyone could suggest a few of them along with their Specifications and Datasheet.
And there is one additional question that I need to ask which is that, Is it possible to have any Layer3 Switch both with 24 and 48 ports that could at the same time provide GIGABIT ETHERNET ports so that both the switches could be linked together if the traffic passing between the LAN is quite enormous. So I was wondering if both the switches could be linked/aggregated together via the GIGABIT ETHERNET ports.
Kindly, find the attach copy of the designed network and It would be great if anyone could help me on this.

I'm not sure about cost issues, but I think 3560 are great switches:

You can connect both 3560G-24 and 3560G-48 together using a etherchannel as you want.

Hi,
Thanks for your Reply but I was wondering if you could tellme another thing. Can we interconnect Catalyst 2950G E1 through their Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces or not ? And what is this Gigastack loopback cable ? Is there any link for that type of cable so that I could lookup and see how it works and looklike ? Also if u could confirm me that whether or not Catalyst 2959G has inbuilt Gigabit Ethernet Ports or not? Or do we need to install the modules for GBIC cards ?
Thanks,
Regards,
Xee

Hi
You can make use of 2950G which normally comes up with GBIC ports in which you need to install GBIC module for connectivity.
i feel you have mentioned up E1 instead of EI that points out the software image installed Enhanced Software Image Version which comes up with added features when compared to Standard Image.
