Remote Access

Hello and thank you for making this forum available.

I need your help in determining what equipment is necessary to support our remote access requirements. Based on our voice requirements, our telephone service provider has recommended that we install a T1 for our voice services in the corporate office. In order to support our data requirements, they suggested we allocate four of the channels for 256k internet access. We have several field sales people with either dial-up or DSL internet access from their home offices. We need these remote sales people to be able to securely access the local area network in the corporate office using their ISP account.

I assume we will need a VPN-capable router and a firewall, but wasn't sure. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Based on the presumtpion that the Telco is splitting out the 4 channels for you to Ethernet ...

A PIX 506 would be suitable for your needs. It is a very good firewall which can also terminate VPNs.
