As part of an IP conversion, we switched previous primary VLAN interface IP's to secondary in a Dual MSFC/HSRP environment. We are ready to remove those secondary IP's from this environment. Issuing the command "no standby 15 ip 140.243.174.129 secondary" has no effect. TAC is recommending blowing away the entire config and rebuilding. Problem is, this is a production environment, and that just can't happen. Anybody seen this before where a router accepts the command, but it doesn't take effect in the config?

What software version you are running on the MSFC.

I just tried with an MSFC running 12.1(8a)E5 and did not find the issue. I found some bugs in older IOS and the workaround was to use no command without the IP address. Try "no standby 15 ip" and put back the standby 15 again
