Replacing 4006 with 3550 12G

We have muitiple 4006 deployed at various building aggregation locations inside our office campus. But for new buildings we would like to consider 3550 12G switch since we use only gig ports of 4006 as uplinks to various stack of 3524/3548 whithin the building. We use 6509 as core for all these 4006s.

Can we go for 3550 12G instead of 4006 as we do not require more than 10 gig ports per buildings for the upcoming buildings.

Thanks in advance.

Certainly..If you do not need more than 10 ports, you might be wasting the slots in a 4006

Thanks .

I also wanted to be sure that we are not compromizing on features like backplane bandwidth or any other capabilities of 4006 with SUP-II and 4232 L3 Card.

We have created 5 to 15 vlans in each 4006 and use 802.1q trunking between 4006 and each stack and routed port channel links between 4006 and 6509.
