responce latency on a 35xx XL and 4006 pinging the sc0/vlan 1

On a new network we see a lot variation in responce latency's on these switches :

the average latency is between 10 and 16 ms but somtimes we see delays of more than 300 mS.

the ios is 12.0.5WC2 and catos 6.3.4

the sc0 is member of vlan 1

the netwerk is stable and there's no production yet.

Are these normal variations or is there something we should pay attention to.??

Since there has been no response to your post, it appears to be either too complex or too rare an issue for other forum members to assist you. If you don't get a suitable response to your post, you may wish to review our resources at the online Technical Assistance Center (http://www.cisco.com/tac) or speak with a TAC engineer. Re: responce latency on a 35xx XL and 4006 pinging the sc0/vlan

Jan,

If you are referring to the latency to the switch itself then yes this is normal behaviour. iIf however you are referring to a ping going from a box connected to one switch towards a box connected to the other switch, then is is not normal.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked processor and memory utilization when you encounter the excessive response times? And, are these devices being polled for SNMP info?
