restricting SNMP access through access-lists

Hi,

I have a cisco router running IOS 12.2(8)T5. I have created an access-list to restrict the SNMP access and executed the following commands to enable SNMP

access-list 1 permit host 192.168.9.47

snmp-server community public RO 1

But it is not responding for SNMP requests from

any host. If i remove the access-list from the snmp command (i,e snmp-server community public RO ) then it is responding

How can i provide restricted SNMP access?

If any has any idea, please help me...

Thanks,

Bhaskar Reddy

Re: restricting SNMP access through access-lists

You mention that the router is not responding to ANY host? Is it responding to snmp requests from 192.168.9.47? The example you gave looks correct unless the SNMP request is a write request.

Re: restricting SNMP access through access-lists

Hi,

thanks for your immediate response. If i don't associate any access-list to the snmp-server commnad then it is responding for 192.168.9.47 Ip. If i restrict the snmp access by associating an access list then only it is not responding.

thanks,

Re: restricting SNMP access through access-lists

It should work with it. Recheck the IP address given and try from other IP by giving access in access list.
