Hi:
* Could you confirm if "flash" and "triggered" updates are the same concept? Please explain if not.
* Does RIP support "flash updates" in the same way as IGRP does ? If yes, what is the difference in the operation compared to IGRP?

They are the same concept. IGRP doesn't support flash updates in newer code, however, since newer code doesn't support IGRP (!) :-)

IGRP is being/is removed from the code, although I don't remember the specific release. RIP will be around a long long time yet.
