I have a WAN with 350 active routes (RIP) at any given point of time. The routers (1600/1700/2500) learn only a maximum of 255 routes out of the available 350 routes. Once I do a clear ip route *, it learns all the 350 routes. However after 3 minutes of route invalid timer, approx 100 routes are lost and subsequently flushed out. The routes being lost are totally random.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
