RIP v.2 default propagation troubles

Hi all!

I have a hub and spoke topology with the peripheral connected through

2 link to hub. The one with Frame Relay and the other with backup ISDN

with another router (Cisco 805 and 801). I've setup the rip v.2, the peripheral

office go to the Internet through the headquarter router so I have to propagate the default. On the router 805 peripheral I've set a default static route (floating)

with administrative distance 250 toward teh 801 ISDN backup. When the FR

goes down the RIP doesn't propagate the default and the static pointing to

ISDN 801 turn on the routing table. ...The problem, when the router on any of

the peripheral reboot, the default propagated by rip doesn't appear, after I manually clear ip route * the R* 0.0.0.0 .... appears. Why?

Thanks in advance for any explanation!!!

Re: RIP v.2 default propagation troubles

The next time you have this problem, try doing a clear ip route 0.0.0.0. I realize that the clear ip route * should include the default route, but I have seen this work in the past.

Re: RIP v.2 default propagation troubles

Next time, or for a test, turn on "debug ip rip" right after the boot and see whats happening.
