Re: Ripv2 command

Featurette : it should be possible to broadcast RIP v2 updates.

This would make it possible for 'old' hosts that do not understand multicasts, to receive RIP v2 updates.

in other words, the rip update is sent to the address

255.255.255.255 instead of 224.0.0.9

Re: Ripv2 command

Dufour,

As I understood there is other commands like send and receive to be comapatible with old hosts , is there any specific scenario where this command is usefull

Re: Ripv2 command

send and receive let you change the version of rip.

The command we are talking about here is a way to change the destination address used to send the rip update.

If you have a device in your network that do not accept multicast you need to change the default rip v2 address to the broadcast address 255.255.255.255

If you don't know where to use this command, you don't need it :-)
