I NOW have it working again.
Here is what I had done. When the system was installed, we had used a HOST file to do our DNS. Funny enough, at the same time I was trying to resolve my orginal problem, I cleaned out this HOST file thinking that it would used DNS. Well it did, but as you had suspected, my device names were NOW being fully resolved (DeviceName.blahblah.com), but I had NOT entered any domain field when creating new devices. Hence, there was a mismatch.
Now I have deleted and re-imported my devices with fully resolved names.
