Rme telnet password and snmp requests problem

Currently we use rme 2.2.

When I try to archive the running configuration of our routers by SNMP requests and telnet, that fails.

The reason is: "TFTP: Timeout error, SnmpRequestTimeout on r-btp-pri1 Telnet: Invalid password"

On our routers the telnet authentification is done by a tacacs server.

We configured the same username and password on rme and our tacacs server.

Also the configuration of read/write community is correct .

Here the interface test results ( Tools > management station to device ):

Test Results

195.110.xxx.xx

TELNET okay

SNMPR okay

sent: 5 recvd: 5 min: 0 max: 0 avg: 0 timeout: 10 size: 91 protocol: snmp_get port: 161

SNMPW okay

sent: 5 recvd: 5 min: 0 max: 0 avg: 0 timeout: 10 size: 119 protocol: snmp_set port: 161

But each time filing fails. I would like to know if somebody has an idea of this problem

RME 2.2 is almost obsolete considering that the latest is RME 3.5. What is the device in question which is giving this error?. Did you try increasing the timeout in RME?

this device is a 3640 cisco router with the ios C3640-JS-MZ_122-10A.BIN.

I have increased the timeout in Rme to 50 seconds. Is that enough?

in Rme we have the same tacacs username and password than in our tacacs server.

But we still have timeout error and telnet invalid password.

Precisely, we wish to update the version of rme but while waiting we would like to find a solution with this problem.

Thanks

I was having the same problem. Since you are using TACACS, export your devices to a CSV file. You only need the TACACS name and password, and SNMP read & write strings. Leave the rest of the fields blank.

MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR EXPORT FILE!!!
