root change message in 6.4.(50

We recently upgraded to version 6.4.(5)

and started seeing this message in our logs.

Sep 9 09:13:51 ch-sw-2 2003 Sep 09 09:13:50 %SPANTREE-5-ROOTCHANGE:Root changed for Vlan 103: New root port 13/1. New Root mac address

is 00-d0-00-f4-f0-66.

We are getting this message whenever

one of the 4148-rj ports comes online.

This is not the 'new root'. It is the

existing root and has been root for all

time. Show spantree has the agport as the

trunks which is correct.

Root guard is enabled on the trunks. And

the first time the message appeared in our

logs was last night at 6:45 p.m. The IOS

has been running since Saturday (3 days).

Any thoughts?

You may be running into CSCeb78548, which is cosmetic. This will be fixed in 6.4(6)
