Roundtrip measure

Hi,

I want to measure de round trip time on a STM-1 link that handle internet international traffic, and i want to do it implementing the cisco ping mib, but some providers think that ping is not a reliable way of measure response time cause it is process switching and not fast or cef switching. I want to have an idea of the performance of that link cause it is normally at peak traffic, so i wan to notice when customers start to feel poor connections to the internet. If you support my idea of using the cisco ping mib or if you have any other idea, please let me know, thanks!!!

Re: Roundtrip measure

Cisco's Service Assurance Agent feature might be a more reliable option to monitor response times in your network than the ping mib. Here's a link with some more information on this feature:

Re: Roundtrip measure

You could try JFFNMS an OpenSource Network management system, which includes Bandwidth monitoring and interface autodiscovery and is focused on Cisco Equipment.

It runs on Windows also (prefered is Unix).

You can get reports on the dates you specify, with RTT, PL, Input Rate, Input Packets, Drops, Availability, etc.

RTT & PL are done with the PING-MIB.

The URL is http://jffnms.sourceforge.net
