route-map vs. NAT

We're taking several of our websites down for maintenance and we want to redirect traffic destined to those sites to a server displaying a splash page.

I've implemented a route-map that redirects any www traffic from a specific source (for testing) to the splash page server but it doesn't seem to work. I can hit the server directly but the other sites simply don't come up.

Should I be using NAT rather than routing policies to do this? I'm not that familiar with NAT on Cisco's... so any sample configs would be very helpful.

You could use Cisco’s distributed director (http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/dd.htm#fea) to accomplish this.
