We have a spare 3640 router that we keep at the phone company for DR purposes. This router supposedly stay powered up all the time. However, when we go the facility to perform our DR test, the config is almost always missing and looks like a "write erase" has been performed. We rebuild the router and write the config and are ready to go.
Any ideas about why my router is losing it's config? Thanks in advance!

Check your configuration register. It looks as if this is set to 0x2142.
The correct value is 0x2102.
Change this and you're back in business!

To add in, to leo's sol, the show version command, helps in seeing the current value of config-register.
To change the value of the register,
config)#config-register 0xWXYZ
default value of WXYZ = 2102
