Router or Msfc

Is there any URL describing how do we decide when to use a pure router&switch, or a Catalyst with MSFC in a network design?

thanks

Re: Router or Msfc

If you r lookin 4 an equipment which will route between VLANS in your network, then its better to go for an MSFC, as performance wise, it will outweigh a switch/external router combination. The catalyst 6500 + MSFC + the wan modules available can be together utilised to form an effective lan cum wan router. In some cases, it would be much better, to have a combination of both ( that is MSFC + catalyst for intervlan routing, while an external router for WAN). Selection, should be done based, after a performance versus cost analysis.
