well,

do u have IP configured on serial Interface .

Could you pls run " sh ip int brief" and send me the output .

Regards,

Yes, the serial has an IP. I will forward the program.

Is the serial interface 'up'? If it is not up, it will not respont to a ping.

I assgned it an IP. Can I test to make sure it is up?

sh ip int brief

physical shoul dbe up and line protocol should be up ....

Serial is up and Ether is up. Still can't ping

From where are you trying to ping? If you are on a workstation on the Ethernet it works to ping the Ethernet because the router Ethernet and the workstation are on the same subnet (I hope). The workstation will need a default gateway to ping anything off the local subnet (the serial port). Am I correct in the assumption that you are at a workstation on the Ethernet? If so, check the default gateway setting of the workstation. It should be the address of the Ethernet.
