Router telnet

Hi,

I have a 3661 router used as a voice gateway of the IP Telephony system. I encountered a problem, I can't do a telnet but I can do a ping to the router. I was able to telnet the router before this problem happened. I got an error message: "Connection to host lost." If this error happened, I will just reset the router and through this I will be able to access the router remotely. If there's anybody that knows the reason and solution of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.....Arvin

Re: Router telnet

First thing you can check is that all the vty lines are not being used... do a "show line". If all lines are being used, you can do a clear line x (x being the line number you are trying to clear).

Next, if you are telneting by dns name... try by ip address. If that works, verify your config on the dns server.

Also, check to be sure that you don't have any duplicate ip addresses in your network. I have seen the "connection to host lost" message when a host was misconfigured with a duplicate address.

Re: Router telnet

This is a possible IOS bug. I recommend you to change your router's IOS release.
