A 3640 router with 1 ethernet if and 8 ISDN-BRI interfaces is used for remote access (dial-in).
For redundancy reasons a second router is installed in parallel (all ISDN lines connected to both routers). In order to avoid changes in the rest of the network, we would like to run HSRP on the ethernet interface (virtual IP = original ethernet IP of first router).
Dial-in via ISDN will either connect you to the active router and it works fine, or you reach the standby router and nothing works because the route back points to the active (ethernet) router.
Is there a "trick" - similar to "tracking" - with which you can tell the ISDN interfaces of the standby router to stay in "shutdown" state until the ethernet interface becomes HSRP active ?
