williamsproblem
Level 1
Level 1

See the screen attachements for details:

3 sites (locations) with each 2 Cisco routers, between 3 communication lines.

problem = howto configure the Cisco for:

the site A when there is one communication line failing. The communication must go via site B to the other communication line site C.

Only static routering is allowed, dynamic routering is not allowed.

The best solution is to use HSRP on the routers along with interface tracking so that in case if one link goes down the traffic should take other way.

Please see the link below for undertanding the HSRP and interface tracking feature.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6600/products_white_paper09186a00804fab8f.shtml#wp3389

The link below has the necessary commands to configure the HSRP:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5528/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801e85d0.html

HTH, Please rate if it does.

Hi william,

I think amit has already sent you the information to solve this problem. but as you did mention to use only static route only will be more administrative overhead. why don't you do dynamic routing as it will solve your all problem's and you can impliment HSRP also.

Thanks

Can you explain about the administrative overhead.

Because i have site B & C not in my management.

Is HSRP working well as i configurating site A only.?

Rgrds William.
