Routing issue on

Is it possible if we dont assign ip address to the serial ports. I want to eliminate assigning IP addres to the serial ports as its quite hard maintaining it. I have got a lot of sites connected to our main office using point-to-point lease line and Frame Relay. I want to do routes

For eg : IP route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 serial0

instead of IP route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.1.255.1

Please I need help

Thank you in advance

Re: Routing issue on

Take a look at 'ip unnumbered' on CCO and you will see examples of how to configure point-to-point links without IP addresses. You can point static routes at interfaces instead of IP addresses just fine, but bear in mind that the routes will then have a lower administrative distance than routes to an IP address and this may affect your routing if you have redundant paths to some destinations.
