Routing Port

I am trying to make a 3550 Port a routing port, but when i make a routing port through "no switchport"

display message VLAN1 is already enabled for management so ip cannot be assigned to routing port.

Can you make sure ip routing is enabled? Can you also do a show ip route and post it here at least if you do not want to post the show run and show ver?

Hi Mansoor ,

AFAIK on 3550 switch you can only configure one port with an IP address .If you have already configured VLAN with one IP address you cant configure other IP address. To confirm what you can do this if you remove the IP address of VLAN 1 and then add IP address to that Routing Port or to someother VLAN.

that's not true, you can make 24/48 port router from a Cat3550 / 3560

this applies to 2950 - only 1 ip interface

I tried configuring 2 IPs on WS-C3548-XL-EN , but it was letting me configure.i dont know may be u r right.
